EUNOMIOS An open on-line journal for theory, analysis, and semiotics of music.

Music & Anthropology An on-line journal for interdisciplinary studies of music as human and social expression, with special focus on the dialogue between musicology and the domains of social science scholarship, such as cultural and social anthropology, psychology, folklore, feminist and gender studies. Geocultural focus on the Mediterranean. Music Theory Spectrum The official print journal of SMT (the Society for Music Theory), but is also available electronically by subscription. Journal of the Royal Musical Association An online version of the print journal, JRMA. Publishes articles in fields ranging from historical and critical musicology to theory and analysis, ethnomusicology, and popular music studies.

Sapaan A refereed bi-yearly on-line music theory journal which publishes analytical and critical essays in a wide variety of domains, and of all music past and present.

Other

NTSMB Danish Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Music and Meaning established in 1999 in order to provide contact between institutionally or geographically seperated sholars, whose research is related to music and meaning. NTSMB aims to connect fields of research within 1) music theory, art theory, literature studies, studies in film and media and aesthetic theory in general, 2) philosophy, cognition, semiotics, linguistics and psychology in more general theories of meaning, 3) history of ideas, religious studies, anthropology, cultural theory, sociology etc. NTSMB hosts national as well as internation conferences, seminars and lectures.

Society for Music Theory Network society established in 1977 in order to promote music theory as both a scholarly and a pedagogical discipline. It providesforums for the presentation of research, including workshops and other aspects of professional development. Features an on-line ‘Research Profiles Database’ with information on the research interests and work of scholars around the world. Also a ‘Music Analysis Inventory’ (MAI), a database of information about music analyses prepared by professionals and pre-professionals in the discipline of music theory and allied fields (musicology, music psychology, music composition, performance practice).

RILM Répertoire Internationale de Littérature Musicale. International Repertory of Music Literature. Abstracts of publications in musicology and music research since 1967. The international RILM centre in New York coordinates about 60 RILM country committees of musicologists and librarians around the world. Today more than 20,000 entries per year. Updated monthly. Available online (through CSA, EBSCO, NISC, OCLC, Ovid or by individual subscription), in CD-ROM or in hardback.

Ircam Institution for music research, creation, and education, affiliated to Centre Georges-Pompidou, Paris. Combines scientific research, development of related technologies and contemporary musical production. Hosts research centres, technical facilities for sound creation and experimentation and a comprehensive multimedia library. Founded in 1969.
